Women Swimmers Take Fourth at Blue Devil Invitational

FREDONIA, NEW YORK – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving competed today (Sunday, December 2, 2012) in the third and final day of the three-day Fredonia State (N.Y.) University Blue Devil Invitational Meet in the FSU Natatorium.

The Yellow Jacket women scored 426 points and placed 4th of eight schools.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American and six-time NCAA Division III All-American senior diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) who set a new pool record in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 509.95. In addition, junior Angela Musille (Canton/Glen Oak) placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in a time of 2:29.30.  Also, the 200-yard medley relay team consisting of junior Emma Gerdes (Avon), Musille, sophomore Carli Dugan (Mentor), and freshman Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) who placed fourth with a time of 1:54.69. Gerdes also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke crossing the finish line in a time of 1:01.10.

The BW swimmers and divers are back in action this Saturday, December 8 when they host the University of Mount Union in the BW Natatorium at 1:00 p.m. The final meet of 2012 will take place on Sunday, Dec. 16 when BW hosts Defiance College and Ursuline College in a tri-meet at 1:00 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets leave for their annual Winter Break Trip to Sarasota, Florida on January 1, 2013 and face Transylvania (Ky.) University on Jan. 5.
