Women's Swim Team Beats Hiram

OBERLIN, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving beats Hiram College tonight  on the second day of the Cleveland City Duals in the Carr Pool on the campus of Oberlin College.

The Yellow Jacket women, who are now 1-3 overall, defeat the Terrier women, 125-117.
The BW women were led by senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American and six-time NCAA Division III All-American senior diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) who won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with point totals of 276.25 and a school record 280.13, respectively. Junior Angela Musille (Canton/GlenOak) also won two events as she won the 400-yard individual medley and the 200-yard breaststroke in times of 5:05.28 and 2:37.52. Freshman Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) captured the 200-yard butterfly as she touched the finish line at 2:27.07 and junior Emma Gerdes (Avon) won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:20.25. Also winning was the 400-yard medley relay team of Gerdes, MusilleAshbaugh and sophomore Kayla Eytser (Canton, Mich. /Plymouth-Canton) won in a time of 4:23.13.    
In addition to the four individual and one relay winners, the Yellow Jackets had four individual and one relay team runner-up. Sophomore Carli Dugan (Mentor) finished second in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events in times of 26.99 and 58.96. Junior Caitlin Wilson (Wycombe, Pa. / Council Rock North) placed second in both the 1000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly in times of 12:10.66 and 2:31.83, respectively. Gerdes and freshman Maddie Fortune (Akron/Firestone) each took second in he 200-yard freestyle and the 1-meter diving event respectively. Gerdes had a 2:08.32 and Fortune had a score 193.60. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Eyster, Maddie Miller (Medina), Wilson and Dugan brought home second in a time of 4:04.71.
The Yellow Jackets will end the three-day Cleveland City Dual format next Saturday at home against an opponent yet to be determined at 1:00 p.m. in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.
