BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men and women's swimming and diving teams finished the final day (Saturday, February 20) of the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium in Akron. The men's team finished third and the women finished fourth.

Highlighting the final day of competition were senior 6-time NCAA Division III All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) and sophomore 2-time All-American Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) being tabbed as the OAC Male and Female Diver of the Year, respectively, for the second consecutive year.  In addition, school records were set in the men's 1-meter dive, women's 200-yard backstroke and women's 3-meter dive.

Richert who won the 1-meter dive with a score of 514.60 points and broke his own previous record. The 1-meter title also marked the fourth straight time that Richert won that crown. Add his two titles in the 3-meter event, and he ended his OAC career as a six-time conference champion and 3-time OAC Diver of the Year. He will compete at the 2011 NCAA Division III National Meet from March 23-26 at the University of Tennessee.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by a school and OAC record-breaking performance by Pinter in the 3-meter event. She earned a record score of 524.20 points to capture the 3-meter title for the second straight year. Pinter has won four OAC titles in the past two years, and will join Richert at the University of Tennesse for the national meet in March.

In addition for the Yellow Jackets, freshman Emma Gerdes (Avon) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke in a record time of 2:09.18. Gerdes performance allowed her to surpass the previous 15 year-old school record of 2:10.59 held by Jill Vogstadt from 1996.
