Yellow Jacket Swimmers and Divers Each Lose to Cross-Town Rival CWRU in Berea

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams each lost to Cleveland cross-town and non-league rival Case Western Reserve University tonight (Friday, January 14, 2011) in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea.

The Yellow Jacket men scored 117 points, but lost to CWRU, 171-117, while the BW women tallied 123 points, but lost to the Spartan women, 161-123.  With its loss, the Yellow Jacket men are now 4-4-1 overall and the women drop to 1-8 overall.

For the BW men, senior 6-time Division III All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) led the way as he won both the one-meter voluntary and 1-meter optional diving events. He scored 182.75 in the 1-meter voluntary event and 303.00 points in the 1-meter optional event. Senior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) led the way for the Yellow Jacket men swimmers by winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.29.

For the Yellow Jacket women, freshman Angela Musille (Canton/ Glenoak) led the way by winning three events. She won the 100-yard breaststroke in a pool-record time of 1"10.42, won the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:14.03 and captured the 50-yard breaststroke in 32.27 seconds.  Sophomore 2-time Division III All-American diver Juile Pinter (Broadview Hts./ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) who won both the one-meter voluntary and one-meter optional diving events. She scored 168.95 points in the 1-meter voluntary event and 240.60 points in the 1-meter optional.

The Yellow Jacket men and women are back in action next Friday and Saturday, January 21-22. On Friday, BW  hosts traditional rival Hiram College as well as Allegheny College of Pennsylvania in a tri-meet in the BW Natatorium at 5:00 p.m.  On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets travel to Ada, Ohio to compete in a key Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet in the ONU Sports Center at 1:00 p.m.  The BW men take a perfect 2-0 OAC record into that meet.

The final home Yellow Jacket swimming and diving meet is on Saturday, Jan. 29 when BW hosts OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University on Seniors' and Parents' Day at 1:00 p.m.
