BW Men Defeat Both Allegheny (Pa.) and Hiram While Women Split

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving teams competed in tri-meet competition today (Friday, January 21, 2011) hosting Allegheny College of Pennsylvania and Hiram College in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea.

The BW men  posted victories over Allegheny, 73-67, as well as Hiram, 88-53, to improve to 6-4-1 overall.  Tthe women defeated Hiram, 98-42, but fell  to the Gators, 87-53, raising their record 2-10 overall .  The teams are back in action tomorrow (Saturday, January 22, 2011) when they travel to Ada, Ohio to compete in an OAC dual meet against Ohio Northern University at 1:00 p.m. 

The Yellow Jacket women were led by sophomore two-time NCAA Division III All-American diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.), and freshman Angela Musille (Canton/ Glen Oak) as each won multiple events.  Pinter placed first in both the one-meter voluntary and optional diving events as she recorded scores of 163.75 points in the voluntary event and 243.45 points in the optional event as she remained undefeated this season.  Musille won the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 32.23, the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.82 overall, and the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:20.87.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by senior 6-time Division III All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton),senior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak), and freshman Patrick Donahoe (Columbus/ Bishop Watterson) as each won a pair of events. Richert won both the one-meter voluntary and optional diving events as he recorded scores of 180.30 in the voluntary and 314.70 in the optional as he remained undefeated this season.  Musille won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.04 and the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 27.65. Donahoe won the men's 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:02.37. Both Musille and Donahoe combined with Mike Demitrieff (Parma/ Normandy) and Nicholas Null (Shelby/ Mansfield St. Peters) to win the men's 200-yard Medley Relay with an overall time of 1:42.06.
