BW Swimming & Diving Teams Compete in a Tri-Meet at Wittenberg

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving teams competed in tri-meet competition today (Saturday, November 20, 2010) at Wittenberg University in Springfield.  Host Wittenberg, BW and Oberlin College competed.

The BW men lost to Wittenberg, 96-44, and beat Oberlin, 80-60, to improve to 4-3-1 overall, and the women lost to the Tigers, 105-34, and lost to the Yeowomen, 90-49, to fall to 1-7 overall this season.  The teams are now idle until December 3-5 when they travel to Fredonia, New York to compete at the annual SUNY-Fredonia Invitational Meet. Preliminary competition each day begins at 10:00 a.m. and the finals for those events will be contested each evening at 6:00 p.m.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by sophomore two-time NCAA Division III All-American diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.), the reigning two-time OAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week, and freshman Emma Gerdes (Avon) as each won a pair of events.  Pinter placed first in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events as she recorded scores of 245.95 points in the 1-meter event and 256.55 points in the 3-meter event as she remained undefeated this season.  Gerdes won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.82 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:16.74 overall.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by senior 6-time Division III All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) and

freshman Patrick Donohoe (Columbus/ Bishop Watterson) as each won a pair of events. Richert won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events as he recorded scores of 303.90 points in the 1-meter event and 259.50 points in the 3-meter event as he remained undefeated this season.  Donohoe won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:20.87 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:05.36 overall. The only other victor for the Yellow Jackets was senior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) as he captured the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.27 overall.
