BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving teams each opened 2010-11 Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet action today (Saturday, October 30, 2010) in a meet at rival Wilmington College.
The BW men won, 137.5-67.5, to improve to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the OAC. The women lost, 118-87, and dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the OAC.
The Yellow Jacket women, freshman Angela Musille (Canton/GlenOak) was a triple winner as she swam on the winning 200-meter medley relay team, the 200-meter individual medley, and the 400-meter freestyle. She was joined on the winning medley relay team by freshman Emma Gerdes (Avon), freshman Kayla Miller (Van Wert) and sophomore Gabby Parker (Girard, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) as the team won in 2:12.40. Individually, Musille won the 200 IM in 2:40.48 and the 400 freestyle in 4:56.32. In addition, Gerdes won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:11.28.
The Yellow Jacket men had three triple winners in freshman Elier Diaz (El Paso, Tx./Americas), freshman Partick Donohoe (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) and senior Ryan Musille (Canton/GlenOak). The trio was joined on the winning 200-meter medley relay team by junior Nic Null (Shelby/Mansfield St. Peter's). Individually, Diaz won the 200 IM in 2:22.35 and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.80; Donahoe won the 200 free in 2:07.96 and the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:12.97; and Musille won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:04.94 and swam on the winning 200-meter free relay.
The BW swimmers and divers are back in action next Saturday, November 6 when they open the home schedule against Penn State Behrend in the BW Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
