ERIE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team dropped to the State University of New York at Fredonia by a final score of 1-0 at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament, hosted by Penn State Behrend College.

In the first half, both teams attempted to create opportunities in front of goal, but only few resulted in shots. The half was scoreless with only one shot from Fredonia and two shots from BW (0-3) sophomore forward Bailey Hall (Lewis Center/Olentangy).

As both teams attempted to put one on the scoreboard, Fredonia broke through and junior forward Gabby Alston scored four minutes into the half. The Yellow Jackets (0-3) increased their intensity as they attempted to tie up the score, resulting in six shots over the course of the half, Including a shot off the crossbar from freshman forward Natalie Stewart (Blacklick/Gahanna Lincoln). However, they were unable to finish them and the match ended 1-0.

Recording her first game of the season, junior goalkeeper Maddie Hofmann (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) was in the net for BW. She faced three shots and allowed one goal.

The Yellow Jackets will return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 8 for their home opener where they will take on Oberlin College at 7:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
