BEREA, Ohio –Academic All-OAC junior Brandi Filippi (Pickerington/North) scored two goals, including the game-winner to give the Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team a 2-1 win over non-conference opponent Oberlin College on the Tressel Field in George Finnie Stadium.

Oberlin (2-2) was first on the board when Yeowomen midfielder Madeline Lynam slid one into the net at the 13-minute mark. BW (1-3) battled for possession in the midfield as they tried to break through in the offense. At 25:27 sophomore defender Paige Ackerman (Sandusky/St. Mary Central Catholic) took a corner kick for the Yellow Jackets which was headed into the net by Fillipi, recording the first goal of the season for BW. Both teams had a fair number of opportunities on goal throughout the rest of the half, but no one was able to breakthrough. The half ended in a tie.

The Yellow Jackets came out hot in the second half when Filippi received a pass from freshman forward Ella Barth (Cleveland/Mayfield) and shot it over the goalie, right into the net creating a 2-1 lead for BW. Oberlin made many attempts to tie up the board, but the BW's defensive line held strong. The Yellow Jackets were constantly looking for their third goal of the night, tallying up five shots for the half but none were finished. The match ended 2-1 for BW's first win of the season.

In the net for BW, freshman goalie Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) made five saves out of the total six shots she faced.

Catch the Yellow Jackets back in action on Saturday, September 11 when they travel to Cleveland to take on Case Western Reserve University in a non-conference match at 2:00 p.m.
