Women’s Soccer Falls to Kalamazoo (Mich.) in Season Opener

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team opened its 2021 fall season when it fell to Kalamazoo (Mich.) College by a final score of 2-0 on Mackenzie Field. 

The first half started off hot as both teams battled for the ball, drawing multiple fouls on both sides. The game went scoreless for 34 minutes until senior midfielder Kai Ketola scored for Kalamazoo (1-0) to take the lead. The half ended 1-0.  

The Hornets scored their second goal five minutes into the second half, when sophomore forawrd Cassidy Short hit the back of the net. Both sides worked to create scoring opportunities, totaling eight shots on each side but the remainder of the game saw no goals. The match ended 2-0.  

Making her debut in net for BW (0-1) was freshman goalie Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) who recorded nine saves on a total 11 shots on goal. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, September 4th when they travel to Erie, Pa. to compete in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament against Penn St.-Behrend at 12:00 p.m.
