Women’s Soccer Falls to Otterbein

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team fell to Otterbein Universityin an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 4-1 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

Otterbein (9-1, 3-0 OAC) got on the board quick with a goal coming with 43:50 remaining in the half. Sophomore forward Morgan Sommers hit the back of the net. The Cardinals continued to attack and were able to score off a corner kick. Sommers was able to head it into the back of the net off the corner kick from senior All-OAC forward Delaney Earl. BW (5-8, 0-3 OAC) was able to get on the board off a penalty kick from sophomore forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) to cut the Otterbein lead to 2-1.

The Cardinals were able to get the offense going early in the second half. Less than five minutes into the half freshman midfielder Bailey Zanella scored off a rebound. Then in the 63 minute, freshman midfielder Lauren Alley got one into the back of the net and the Otterbein lead stood at 4-1.

In the goal for the Yellow Jackets was freshman Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) who made eight saves on the 12 shots she faced. Also appearing in goal was junior goalkeeper Maddie Hofmann (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) who made one save on the one shot she faced.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, October 13 when it travels to Tiffin to take on Heidelberg University in an OAC game in the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex at 4:00 p.m.
