BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Geneva College in a non-conference match by a final score of 2-1 on Reeves Field.

The Yellow Jackets got started quick when senior defender Aundrea Scattino (Girard/Niles McKinley) took a shot 48 seconds into the game. BW (4-5) continued to take shots on goal until Sophomore forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) scored at the 13 minute mark to put the first point on the board for BW. A battle in the midfield ensued as Geneva (1-6) looked to even the score. At 31 minutes, the Yellow Jackets extended their lead when freshman midfielder Ally Watling (Torrance, Calif.) slid a ball into the lower left corner of the net. The Golden Tornadoes scored at 41 minutes to cut BW's lead. The half ended 2-1.

Freshman forward Ella Barth (Cleveland/Mayfield) had a shot for BW three minutes into the second half, but it was blocked. The Yellow Jackets offense continued to press Geneva's defense and attempt to extend their lead but was unsuccessful. Neither team scored during the second half, and BW racked up a total 17 shots for the half. The match ended 2-1 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.

In goal for BW was freshman goalie Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) who recorded two saves on the total three shots she faced.

BW returns to the pitch on Wednesday, September 29th when they host a non-conference match against The College of Wooster at 7:00 P.M. on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
