BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Hiram College in a non-conference game by final score of 4-0 on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium, making them 2-0 at home.

BW (2-4) came out with intensity, getting their first shot on goal just three minutes into the match. BW's offense kept looking for opportunities on goal, until finally in the ninth minute sophomore forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) buried the ball in the back of the net, recording her first goal as a Yellow Jacket. The Yellow Jackets continued to press the Terrier's defense, racking up 11 shots for the half but were unable to increase their lead.

The Yellow Jackets carried their offensive attack into the second half as they looked to increase their score. Ten minutes into the half, Rice gave BW their second goal of the night when she slid one passed the goalie into the bottom corner of the net. The Yellow Jackets then added a third goal to the board when academic All-OAC senior Maddie Farrell (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) scored ten minutes later. With five minutes left in the game, BW's sophomore midfielder Jenna Eitel (Dellwood, Minn./Mahtomedi), took a corner kick which was headed into the net by freshman midfielder Ally Watling (Torrance, Calif.) for her first career collegiate goal. The game ended 4-0 in favor of the Yellow Jackets

In goal for BW was junior goalkeeper Maddie Hofmann (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) who made two saves on the two shots she faced.

The Yellow Jackets will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 18th when they host a non-conference match against Waynesburg University at 1:00 p.m. at the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium. On Sunday, September 19 the match against Olivet (Mich.) College has been cancelled due to Covid-19 protocols with Olivet.
