Women’s Soccer Drops OAC Semifinal to Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The No. 5 seeded Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team dropped in the Ohio Athletic Conference semifinal game against No. 1 seeded Otterbein University by a final score of 2-0 inside the Memorial Stadium.

BW finishes with the season with a 11-10 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the OAC. Otterbein (15-2) advances to the OAC championship game and will host No. 2 seeded Ohio Northern University.

The first half was battle for both teams throughout the period. Otterbein got the first of the opportunities, getting the first three shots of the game. One of those was a goal from senior All-OAC and CoSIDA Academic All-American forward Delaney Earl, who put it just over the fingertips of the keeper. The Yellow Jackets were able to settle in and get their own shots on goal. The Cardinals had the first half advantage in shots over BW, 8-6. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the half, sophomore forward Morgan Somers got one into the back of the net to give Otterbein a 2-0 lead. Both teams continued to get shots off, but no goals were scored, and the teams went into halftime with a Cardinals 2-0 lead.

The second half was another battle. Neither team was able to score but both got great offensive outlooks. The keepers for both teams made some incredible saves throughout the half. Otterbein won the shot advantage again, however, it did not amount to anything. The offensive chances came until the final whistle, but with no scoring, the Cardinals walked away with a 2-0 victory.

In the net for the Yellow Jackets was freshman goalkeeper Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) who made eight saves on the 10 shots she faced.
