AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Four Baldwin Wallace University wrestling student-athletes have been named to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.
In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and maintain varsity status.
Junior 197-pounder James Ritchie (Carlisle), senior 174-pounder Graham Montague (Independence), junior All-OAC 197-pounder Tyler Maclellan (Medina/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) and senior 157-pounder David Shapiro (Beachwood) are four of 16 BW student-athletes to be recognized.
Ritchie, who garners his second Academic All-OAC accolade, is a criminal justice major and carries a 3.78 grade point average. He also a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda honor society. Ritchie went 21-7 this season and earned a second place finish at the 31st Annual John Summa Invitational.
Montague, who earns his third Academic All-OAC honor, is a biology major and has a 3.76 grade point average. He is also a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. On the mat Montague finished the year with a 21-10 record with seven falls.
Maclellan, who garners his second Academic All-OAC accolade, is an accounting major and carries a 3.62 grade point average. In addition, he is a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda honor society. This season, Maclellan earned second-team All-OAC honors, was 23-14 this season with five major decisions and three falls.
Shapiro, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is mathematics and education major and he has a 3.60 grade point average. This season he won all six bouts he competed in with two falls, one technical fall and one major decision.
