No. 9 Wrestling Defeats Ohio Northern to Remain Undefeated in OAC Action

BEREA, Ohio – The ninth-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team remained undefeated in Ohio Athletic Conference action with a 33-6 victory against Ohio Northern University in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (20-3, 4-0 OAC) won its 11th straight OAC dual match dating back to the 2014-2015 season, its eighth straight dual this season dating back to January 5 and fourth consecutive dual versus the Polar Bears. ONU (10-3, 3-1 OAC) dropped its second match in its last four duals.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) as he pinned his opponent at the 2:58 mark.  Along with Nash, sophomore All-OAC 165-pounder Anthony Arroyo (Maumee) earned a technical fall with a count of 20-5 and junior All-OAC 125-pounder Chris Doyle (Akron/Green) won by major decision with a 9-0 count.  

In addition, senior 141-pounder Josh Decatur (Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), sophomore All-OAC 149-pounder Richie Burke (Ithaca, N.Y.), sophomore 174-pounder Justin Ransom (Madison) and junior All-OAC 197-pounder Tyler Maclellan (Medina/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) each won by decision. Decatur earned a 7-3 decision, Burke won by a count of 7-1, Ransom picked up a 6-5 victory, Maclellan won his bout by a score of 3-1. Sophomore 184-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere) won by forfeit.
