Wrestling Defeats Adrian (Mich.) in Season Opener

ADRIAN, Mich. – The defending Ohio Athletic Conference Champion Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team defeated Adrian College, 56-0, in a non-conference dual match inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.

 BW (1-0) recorded five pins and two major decisions in the shutout victory that included two forfeits by Adrian (0-1).

The match was highlighted by freshmen 141-pounder Aaron Kelly (Rocky River) and 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) as they each earned their first career victories.  Kelly pinned his opponent at the 4:46 mark and Nash won 14-5 major decision. 

Along with Kelly, junior 125-pounder Chris Doyle (Akron/Green), sophomore 157-pounder Benjamin Hooff (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), senior 174-pounder Graham Montague (Independence), sophomore 184-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere) and junior heavy weight Gabe Mahaney (Green) each earned pins in the respective weight classes. In the 149-pound weight class Zack Taylor (Brunswick) defeated his opponent 14-3 major decision.

BW is back in action when it travels to Angola, Indiana to compete at the Trine Invitational hosted by Trine (Ind.) University inside Hershey Hall at 10 a.m.
