No. 9 Wrestling Team Ties School-Record for Wins in a Season

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The No. 9-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team tied the school-record for victories in a season as it defeated Otterbein University by a final score of 37-6 in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual match in the Rike Center.

BW (18-3, 2-0 OAC), who set the record last season with an 18-8 overall record, was led by senior 141-pounder Patt McGinnis (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek), sophomore All-OAC 149-pounder Richie Burke (Ithaca, N.Y.), sophomore All-OAC 165-pounder Anthony Arroyo (Maumee) and sophomore 184-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere) as they each won their respective matches by pin fall. McGinnis earned a pin at the 2:44 mark, Burke pinned his opponent at the 1:36 mark, Arroyo won by fall 59 seconds into his bout and Lehman earned a pin at the 5:21 mark.

In addition, senior 174-pounder Graham Montague (Independence) earned a major decision with a count of 13-3. Freshman 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk), sophomore 157-pounder Benjamin Hooff (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and senior 285-pounder Andrew Sierawski (Delaware/Hayes) each won by decision. Nash won by a score of 12-8, Hooff earned a victory with a 7-6 count and Sierawski closed out the match with a 9-6 decision.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel to Wheaton, Illinois on Friday and Saturday January 27 and 28 for the Pete Willson Invitational in the King Arena. Wrestling begins on Friday at 12 p.m and Saturday at 10 a.m.
