No. 19 Wrestling Wins Home Opener Versus NAIA Lourdes

BEREA, Ohio – The No. 19th-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team won its home opener, 36-9, against NAIA Lourdes University in a non-conference dual match in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (4-2) was led by freshman 165-pounder Adam Green (Austintown/Fitch) as he pinned his opponent at the 2:49 mark.

Lourdes (0-7) was led by sophomore 133-pounder Tyler Roberts as he picked up six of the Gray Wolves nine points with a pin.

Along with Green for the Yellow Jackets, junior 174-pounder Grant Rathburn (New Alban/Bishop Hartley) won by technical fall and sophomore 184-pounder Christopher Head (Massillon/Jackson) won a 13-3 major decision.  

In addition, senior 144-pounder Patt McGinnis (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek), sophomore 157-pounder Benjamin Hooff (Wothington/Thomas Worthington) and freshman heavyweight Eddie Sternad (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) each won by decision for the Yellow Jackets.

BW is back in action on Saturday, December 3 when it travels to York, Pennsylvania to compete at the New Standards Corporation Invitational hostd by York College in the Charles Wolf Gymnasium at 8:30 a.m.
