BW Women's Golf Team Takes Lead After Day One at Mount Union Spring Invitational

ALLIANCE, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team fired a team total of 338 strokes today (Saturday, March 26) to take a nine-shot lead on the first day of the University of Mount Union Spring Invitational at Tannenhauf Golf Club.

The Yellow Jackets stand in first place of nine teams and are followed in the team standings by Mercyhurst (Pa.) College and host Mount Union, who are tied for second at 349 strokes.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) who shot an 82 on the par-72, 6189-yard Tannenhauf G.C. layout. Woolf currently stands tied for third as an individual. Sophomore Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) and freshman Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/Darby) each followed with an 84, while freshman Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/Dayton Christian) had 88 and sophomore Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) rounded out the BW lineup with an 89.

Playing as individuals, freshman Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) shot a 97, sophomore Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) shot 98 and senior Nicole Carlone (Canton/St. Thomas Aquinas) turned in a score of 100.

BW returns to action tomorrow (Sunday, March 27) for round two of the tournament. Following tomorrow's round, the Jackets next tournament is on next Friday and Saturday (April 1-2) when they participate in the Capital Purple and White Invitational.
