Baldwin Wallace Women's Golf Team Finishes Third at the Heidelberg Tournament

TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team finished third of eight schools today (Friday, April 21, 2011) at the two-day and 36-hole Heidelberg University Invitational Tournament at the Mohawk Golf Club in Tiffin. This was the final regular season tournament for the Yellow Jackets.

Today, the Yellow Jackets fired a 366-stroke total to go with its first day total of 354 strokes on the par-72 and 6,000-yard Mohawk G.C. layout to record the best team score by an NCAA Division III school, including one stroke better than Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University.  NAIA power Bethel College (Ind.) won the title.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Christian) who shot a second round of 87 for a two-day total of 183, which tied her for 23rd individually.  Following Cunningham, sophomoreBrooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joesph Academy) carded a second round score of 91, which brought her two-day total to 173.  Hamilton tied for 11th place individually.  Freshman Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) had a round of 93, which brought her tournament total to 180, which placed her 19th individually.  Freshman Rebecca Jones (Hillard/ Darby) finished the second round with a 95 having a two-day total of 187, which placed her 26th individually.  Rounding out the day, sophomore Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) carded a 99 for a two-day total of 192 tying her for 28th place individually.

Playing as individuals, senior captain Nicole Carlone (Canton/ St. Thomas Aquinas) carded a 92 for her two-day total at 179, which placed her in 18th place.  Freshman Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) posted a second round score of 103 for tournament total of 201 good for 32nd place individually.  Lastly, sophomore Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) had a 110 for a two-day total of 226 good for 38th place individually.

The 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament takes place next weekend, on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 at the Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance with the University of Mount Union serving as the host school.  The winner of the OAC Tournament receives an automatic berth to the 2011 NCAA Division III National Tournament in Florida later in May.
