COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team stands in second place today (Friday, April 1) after the first round of the Capital University Purple and White Invitational at the Firefox Golf Club.
The Yellow Jackets fired a team score of 337 and trail Bethel (Ind.) College by 15 strokes. Ohio Athletic Conference rival Otterbein University is currently in third, eight strokes behind BW.
The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) who shot an 77 on the par-72, 5255-yard course. Woolf is currently tied for second place. Freshman Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/Dayton Christian)stands in 12th place after carding an 84 while sophomore Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy)and sophomore Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) each followed with an 88 and are tied for 19th. FreshmanRebecca Jones (Hilliard/Darby) rounded out the BW lineup with a 91.
Playing as individuals, freshman Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) shot a 93, senior Nicole Carlone (Canton/St. Thomas Aquinas) carded a 96 and sophomore Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) turned in a score of 105.
BW returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, April 2) for round two of the tournament at the Players Club Course. Following tomorrow's round, the Jackets next tournament is on Thursday and Friday (April 21-22) when they participate in the Heidelberg University Collegiate Golf Classic.
