BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team finished third of 16 teams at the Mercyhurst College of Pennsylvania Tournament at the Downing Golf Course in Harborcreek on Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19. This is the second of six fall tournaments that the Yellow Jackets will compete in.
The Yellow Jacket "A" team carded a first round total of 335 strokes and a second day 325 to total 660 strokes and placed third behind NCAA Division II teams Gannon, Pa. with 614 strokes and Kutztown State, Pa. with 648 strokes. BW was the top finisher among NCAA Division III schools in the event and beat several Division II schools.
Leading the Yellow Jacket "A" team was freshman Emilee Woolf (Ravenna/ Senior) with rounds of 82 and 77 for a 159-stroke total on the par-72 and 5,829-yard Downing G.C. layout. Following Woolf were freshman freshman Miranda Rockich (Akron/ Green) with rounds of 87 and 77 for 164 strokes, sophomore Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) with rounds of 80 and 87 for 167 strokes, freshman Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Dayton Christian) with rounds of 87 and 87 for 174 strokes and freshman Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) with rounds of 91 and 84 for 175 strokes.
The Yellow Jacket "B" team shot a first round total of 359 strokes and a second round 364 to finish with 723 strokes to place 10th. Freshman Mary Crisafio (Pittsburgh, Pa./ The Linsly School) led the way with rounds of 87 and 76 for a 163-stroke total. She was followed by sophomore Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) with rounds of 86 and 86 for a 172 total, freshman Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) with rounds of 91 and 88 for 179 strokes and senior Diana Han (Curitiba, BRAZIL) with rounds of 96 and 103 for a 199 total. Sophomore Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) shot a first round 99 but did not compete on the second day.
The Yellow Jacket women will be back in action on Satuday, Sept. 25 at the Capital University Purple & White Tournament and on Sept. 26 at the Grove City College of Pennsylvania Tournament.
