Baldwin Wallace University Women's Golf Team Finishes Third at Capital Purple & White Tournament

LOCKBOURNE, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team finished third of 12  schools today (Saturday, April 2, 2011) at the Capital University Purple & White Invitational Tournament at the Firefox Golf Club in Lockbourne.  This was the second invitational of the five-tournaments scheduled this spring season for the Yellow Jackets.


The Yellow Jackets fired a final day score of 356 to give them a two-day total of 693 strokes after carding a first-day total of 337 strokes.  BW finished 59 strokes behind champion Bethel (Ind.) College and 14 strokes back of second place and OAC-rival Otterbein College.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman No.1 player Emilee Woolf (Ravenna) as she fired rounds of 77 and 87 for a two-day total of 164 strokes to place seventh individually.  Following Woolf was freshman Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Christian) with rounds of 84 and 88 for a 172 stroke total to place 13th, sophomoreRebecca Kapusta (Independence) had rounds of 88 and 91 for a 179 total to place tied for 19th, freshmanRebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) had rounds of 91 and 90 for a 181 total to place tied for 22nd and sophomoreBrooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) had rounds of 88 and 94 for a 182 total and finished tied for 24th.

Playing as individuals, freshman Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) finished tied for twenty-sixth individually as she fired rounds of 93 and 90 for a 183 total, senior Nicole Carlone (Canton/ Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas) had rounds of 96 and 97 for a 193 total and sophomore Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) had rounds of 105 and 105 for a two-round total of 210 strokes.

After two spring tournaments and one dual match, Woolf leads the squad with a 84.00 stroke average.  She also led the team to a 53-14 record during last fall's six-tournament schedule with an 82.75 stroke average and earned medalist honors at the Grove City (Pa.) College Tournament.

BW returns to action on Thursday and Friday, April 21-22, when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to participate in the Heidelberg University Collegiate Golf Classic at the Mohwak Golf Club.
