BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team jumped to No. 7 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the D3hoops.com Top-25 national polls after improving to an 11-0 record last week.

The Yellow Jackets, who were slated at No. 8 in both the polls last week, put together a pair of victories last week to claim the BW Invitational Championship. BW secured wins over Manchester (Ind.) University (74-36) in the semifinal round and Hamilton (N.Y.) College (72-65) in the finals.

Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC guard Megan Hensel (Upper Sandusky), who was named OAC Player of the Week, was named the BW Invitational All-Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 16.5 points per game. Hensel notched her career-high 22 points in the win over Manchester. Sophomore forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg) also was named to the BW Invitational All-Tournament Team after earning a double-double against Hamilton (12 points, 10 rebounds).

In the win over Manchester, the Yellow Jackets shot 53.8% from the field and 46.7% from three-point range, knocking down 14 shots from beyond the arc, just two short of the BW single game record. Hensel posted five of those 14 shots. Freshman guard Kaycie Badylak (Cincinnati/Archbishop McNicholas) shot 4-5 from downtown, and added five rebounds, notching her career-high 17 points in that game.

BW is accompanied by one other OAC school on the D3hoops.com poll, with Ohio Northern University being slated at No. 20.

The Yellow Jackets return to play on Wednesday, January 4 as they travel to Alliance to take on the University of Mount Union for an OAC matchup. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
