Hensel of No. 8 Women’s Basketball Named OAC Player of the Week

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC guard Megan Hensel (Upper Sandusky) of the No. 8 nationally ranked women's basketball team was named OAC Midstream Lighting Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Hensel, who was named the BW Invitational All-Tournament Most Valuable Player, helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of victories last week to claim the BW Invitational Championship. Hensel helped BW defeat Manchester (Ind.) University (74-36) in the semifinal matchup and Hamilton (N.Y.) College in the finals (72-65).

Hensel notched her career-high 22 points in the win over Manchester, shooting 5-9 from three-point range. In the win over Hamilton, Hensel scored 11 points all in the second half. She totaled three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the two games. 

This season, Hensel has scored 91 points, grabbed 53 rebounds, and added six assists, five blocks, five steals, and is leading the team in made three pointers. In Hensel's career, she has tallied 568 points (6.38 points per game), 343 rebounds, 63 assists, and 62 steals.

The Yellow Jackets return to play on Wednesday, January 4 as they travel to Alliance to take on the University of Mount Union for an OAC matchup. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
