BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team improved to No. 8 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and No. 10 in the D3hoops.com Top-25 National Polls after going 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play last week.

The Yellow Jackets, who were slated at No. 10 and No. 12 in the two polls last week, put together a pair of victories over crosstown rival John Carroll University and Wilmington College to improve to 16-1 overall and 9-1 in league play.

In the 81-60 win over JCU, the Yellow Jackets had 12 players etch their name into the scoring column, led by sophomore forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg), as she tallied 14 points and six boards. Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Megan Hensel (Upper Sandusky) posted 11 points and six rebounds while sophomore guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) totaled 10 points.

Against Wilmington, the Yellow Jackets were tied with the Quakers 61-61 with 1:24 left in the game. A clutch layup by sophomore guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) put the Yellow Jackets up two, followed by two of her free throws to extend the lead to four points. Ressler was 8-8 from the charity stripe under three minutes, notching a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks. She also had nine points and seven rebounds against JCU.

BW is accompanied by one other OAC school in the polls, with Ohio Northern University being slated at No. 18 in D3hoops.com and tied for No. 20 in the WBCA poll.

The Yellow Jackets return to play on Wednesday, January 25 as they travel to Tiffin to take on Heidelberg University in an OAC matchup. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. inside Seiberling Gymnasium.
