Yellow Jacket Men Swimmers Beat John Carroll

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams won today in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet with Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center.  It was the final OAC dual meet for the Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jacket men beat the Blue Streak men, 118-109. The BW men advance to 3-8 overall and 3-3 against OAC competition.

The BW men were led by sophomore Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) and senior diver Tony Tijerina (Defiance/Napoleon). Gerber finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.63 along with the 200-yard individual medley with 2:05.53. Tijerina placed first in the 1-meter voluntary and 1-meter optional dive earning 152.70 and 256.65 points, respectively.

In addition to Gerber and Tijerina, senior teammate Nathan Brown (Columbia Station/Olmsted Falls) finished the 1000-yard freestyle with a winning time of 11:04.55. The men's 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Gerber, freshman Charles Peppers (Circleville), freshman Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South), and sophomore Ronald Woodburn (Ashtabula/Edgewood) finished with a winning time of 1:47.09.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, February 1 when BW hosts cross-town and non-league rival Case Western Reserve University in the BW Natatorium for a 6:00 p.m. Seniors' and Parents' Night Meet.
