SARASOTA, FLORIDA – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams defeated Transylvania (Ky.) University in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet a at the Sarasota YMCA.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Transylvania, 119-53, and improve to 2-7 overall and 2-2 against Ohio Athletic Conference competition, including two straight victories.  Transylvania is in its first year as an OAC member only in the sport of swimming and diving.

BW was led by freshman Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill./ Hinsdale South) who won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.81 seconds and  the 50-yard butterfly in 25.87 seconds and swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:53.33) and 200-yard free relay (1:39.36) teams. He was joined on the 200 medley relay squad by junior All-OAC competitor Patrick Donohoe (Columbus/ Bishop Watterson), freshman Charles Peppers (Circleville) and freshman Justin Allison (Napoleon). He was joined on the winning freestyle relay squad by Donohoe, Allison and sophomore Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/ Nordonia).

In addition to the relays, Allison won the 100 free in 54.84 seconds and was second in the 50 free in 24.43 seconds, Peppers won the 50-yard breaststroke in 30.29 seconds and Gerber won the 100-yard individual medley in 1:01.59.

The Yellow Jackets are idle now until January 19 when they travel to Ada, Ohio to resume OAC action against Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center at 1:00 p.m. The next home meet is on Saturday, January 26 versus OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 1:00 p.m.
