OBERLIN, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving lose to Hiram College tonight on the second day of the Cleveland City Duals in the Carr Pool on the campus of Oberlin College.
The Yellow Jacket men, who are now 0-4 overall, losing to Hiram, 113-108.
The BW men were led by sophomore Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills /Nordonia) who won both the 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard IM in times of 2:23.48 and 4:43.64. Also capturing first-place finishes were junior Patrick Donohoe (Columbus/Bishop Watterson), freshman Steven Curry (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. /Wylie E. Groves) and the 400-yard medley relay team of Curry, Gerber, freshman Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill. / Hinsdale South and freshman Justin Allison (Napoleon). Donohoe had a time of 2:15.79 in the 200-yard butterfly, Curry a 2:11.62 in the 200-yard backstroke and the relay team finished with a time of 3:56.04.
In addition to the winners, the Yellow Jackets had two individual and one relay team finish as runner-up. Senior Nathan Brown (Columbia Station /Olmsted Falls) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1000-yard freestyle in times of 5:29.88 and 11:21.00. Allison touched the end line in second in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle in times of 22.93 and 51.76. The 400-yard freestyle team of Curry, freshman Paul Rockocy (North Royalton), senior Matthew Zych (Des Plaines, Ill. /Maine West) and Donohoe placed second in a time of 3:33.26.
The Yellow Jackets will end the three-day Cleveland City Dual format next Saturday at home against an opponent yet to be determined at 1:00 p.m. in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.
