BW Swim Team Falls to JCU on Final Day of Cleveland City Duals

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams fall Ohio Athletic Conference and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University today on the final day of the Cleveland City Duals in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

The BW men, now 0-5 overall, lost to the JCU men, 159-120. The Yellow Jackets finished sixth overall in the tournament.

The BW men were led by freshman Steven Curry (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./ Wylie E. Groves) who won the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes with times of 57.02 and 2:07.15, respectively. Sophomore Bryan Gerber (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.79. Gerber also took the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.86.

In addition, freshman Nathan Onchuck (Darien, Ill./ Hinsdale South) Gerber, Curry, and freshman Justin Allison (Napoleon) each contributed to the win for the 200-yard Medley Relay. Junior Nikolaus Williams (Warren/Harding) won both the 1-meter voluntary and 1-meter optional diving events. He won the voluntary event with 105.05 points and captured the optional event with 137.10 points.

The Yellow Jackets return to action next Saturday, November 17 when they host Penn State (Pa.) Behrend University in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center at 1:00 p.m.
