Men's Soccer Drops OAC Matchup Against Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team suffered an Ohio Athletic Conference loss at the hands of Heidelberg University by a final score 1-0 in the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex.

With tonight's defeat, BW's (8-7) record falls to 19-27-6 in all-time matchups against conference foe Heidelberg (3-8-1).

The Student Princes were able to strike early in the first half. Sophomore Sigurd Ilestad managed to header in a lengthy throw-in from junior Cory Gilbert to put Heidelberg up 1-0 in the ninth minute of the game. The Yellow Jackets had three shots on the goal in the frame, equalling the amount of their adversaries. They applied some offensive pressure with three corner kicks in the period as well.

Opportunities were dwindled for today's combatants in the second half as both teams combined for only three shots on goal. BW were able to play well defensively to keep the deficit at one but the Yellow Jackets ultimately could not claim the equalizer as time expired.

Senior goalkeeper Patrick Mehal (Richfield/Revere) made three saves on four shots faced as his record fell to 8-7 on the season.

BW returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 19 when it hosts an OAC matchup against Muskingum University at 1:00 p.m. on Tressel Field.
