Geither and Ruple Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Team

BEREA, Ohio – Senior Baldwin Wallace University All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) and senior Academic All-OAC forward Joey Geither (Parma/Normandy) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District 7 Team.

Ruple earns his third consecutive Academic All-District Team accolade and Geither garners his first career selection.

Along with the rest of the first-team Academic All-District honorees, Ruple and Geither both move on to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced on December 3. Ruple will aim for his third consecutive Academic All-American selection and Geither will appear on its ballot for the first time.

An accounting major, Ruple carries a 3.93 grade point average and is a Dean's List student, and Jacket Scholar. Geither is a digital media and design major and Dean's List student, that boasts a 3.92 GPA.

This season, Ruple led BW and the entire OAC with 17 goals and 41 points. He was also tied for the team lead in assists with seven, and tied for second amongst OAC assist-getters. Ruple also made history this season as he broke the Yellow Jackets all-time career goals (58) and assists (30) records, to go along with the career points (146) record he established just one season prior.

Geither was credited with a career-high seven assists in 2019, which tied him for the team-lead and was good enough for a second-place tie in the OAC. He also added six goals, which gave him a total of 19 points in 20 games.

BW finished the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 11-9 and a 4-5 mark in the OAC.
