10 Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – 10 Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer student-athletes have landed on the 2019 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, appeared in at least one varsity contest, and maintains a 3.5 minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Senior forward Cannon Dees (Berea/Berea-Midpark), senior forward Joey Geither (Parma/Normandy), senior defender Blake Knox (North Canton/Hoover), senior forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark), junior midfielder Bryce Posner (Aurora), junior midfielder David Quayle (Avon/Lutheran West), sophomore forward Tyler Gramsz (Jefferson), sophomore midfielder Josh Hadden (Perry), sophomore defender Trevor Hamm (Strongsville), and sophomore midfielder Attila Nagy (Lakewood) are 10 of 57 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this fall.

Dees, who earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a sport management major carrying a 3.541 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and student assistant in the BW athletic communications office. For his career, Dees appeared in 44 games, recording four goals and nine assists for 17 points.

Geither, who earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a digital media and design major, carrying a 3.914 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 first team for the first time this season. For his career, Geither appeared in 69 games, recording 16 goals and 18 assists for  50 points.

Knox, who earns his second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an international business major carrying a 3.553 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. For his career, Knox appeared in six games on the Yellow Jackets backline.

Ruple, who earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.93 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 first team selection, and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. Athletically, Ruple was a four-time All-OAC selection, was named the OAC's Forward of the Year twice, and also claimed the OAC's Freshman of the Year Award in 2016. For his career, Ruple appeared in 77 games and currently holds the all-time men's soccer program records for goals (58), assists (30), and points (146). Ruple also holds the single-season goals and points marks set in his 2017 sophomore campaign with 19 and 45, respectively.

Posner, who earns his second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.785 GPA. He is a Dean's List Student and Jacket Scholar. For his career, Posner has appeared in 56 games, recording six goals and seven assists for 19 points.

Quayle, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.809 GPA. He is also a Dean's List Student. For his career, Quayle has appeared in nine games, recording one assist for one point.

Gramsz, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a finance major who carries a prefect 4.0 GPA. He is also a Dean's List student. For his career, Gramsz has appeared in two games on the BW attack.

Hadden, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a computer science major who carries a 3.531 GPA. He is also a Dean's List student. For his career, Hadden has appeared in one game.

Hamm, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.745 GPA. He is also a Dean's List Student. Athletically, Hamm is a two-time All-OAC selection. For his career, Hamm has appeared in 39 games, recording one goal for two points.

Nagy, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.552 GPA. He is also a Dean's List Student. For his career, Nagy has appeared in 39 games, recording three goals and three assists for nine points.
