Complete 2019 CoSIDA NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Academic All-American Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Baldwin Wallace University four-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and three-time Academic All-OAC senior men's soccer student-athlete Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) has been named College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) Academic All-American of the Year.

Ruple, who earns his first ever Academic All-American of the Year award, becomes just the sixth BW student-athlete, and just the second Yellow Jackets men's soccer student-athlete to receive the prestigious honor. He is the first BW student-athlete to attain the accolade since baseball's Spencer Badia in 2018, and the first Yellow Jackets men's soccer player to garner the award in 35 years, as Mike Waters claimed it back in 1984.

A master's in accounting major, Ruple boasts an impressive 3.93 cumulative grade point average and is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

The 2019 OAC Forward of the Year led BW, the OAC, and was tied for 17th in all of NCAA Division III with 17 goals. His 41 points on the season also led the team, the OAC, and was high enough for 19th in the nation. Furthermore, the four-year letterwinner also led the squad with 61 shots, and was tied for the team lead and tied for second in the OAC with seven assists. 

Now standing as BW's lone three-time Academic All-American first team selection, the senior made more history this season as he broke the Yellow Jackets all-time career goals (58) and assists (30) records, to go along with the career points (146) record that he established just one season prior.

BW's 119 all-time Academic All-Americans is more than any Division III institution in the OAC or the state of Ohio and ranks 11th nationally in Division III.
