Men’s Golf Wins Fifth Invitational of Season, Captures Poppa Flowers Invitational

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio –The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team won its fifth invitational of the 2018-19 season as it captured the Poppa Flowers Invitational hosted by John Carroll University at the Shaker Heights Country Club.

BW finished first by one stroke with a total of 298 on the par-70 and 6,721-yard Shaker Heights layout.  John Carroll University and NCAA Division II Malone University were second with a 299. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Hunter Miller (Frankfort/Adena) as he tied for second with a 72.  Freshman Roni Shin (Rocky River) finished tied for fourth as he carded a 73.  Junior Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) tied for sixth as he posted a 74.  Junior Ben Ladaika (Erie, Pa./Erie Cathedral Prep) tallied a 79.  Rounding out the top five was freshmen Logan Bratsch (Olmsted Falls) as he had an 86.

Playing as individuals were seniors Brad Blaine (Brooklyn), senior Jack Kyle (Bay Village/Bay) and Adam Morris (Grafton/Midview), sophomores Jared Budner (Macedonia/Nordonia) and Alan Torres (Cleveland/Berea-Midpark) and freshmen Dylan Boff (Broadview Heights/North Royalton) and Steve Newbould (Parma/Valley Forge). 

Newbould led individuals as he finished tied for fourth with a career-low 73.  Kyle fired a 79.  Boff carded an 80.  Blaine posted an 83.  Budner tallied an 87.  Morris shot an 89 and Torres, who played in his first tournament since coming to BW this semester, had a 98 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14 when it travels to Wooster to compete in the Nye Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by the College of Wooster at the Wooster Country Club.
