Miller Fires First Career Hole-in-One, Men’s Golf Wins Spring Invitational in Playoff

HINCKLEY, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior Hunter Miller (Frankfort/Adena) hit his first career hole-in-one as he aced the eighth hole to lead the men's golf team to a playoff victory at is very own BW Spring Invitational at the Pine Hills Golf Club.

BW and John Carroll University tied with identical scores of 304 after 18 holes on the par-72 and 6,748-yard Pine Hills layout.  All five players from both teams played a one-hole playoff and the Yellow Jackets won by two strokes 21-19 to capture their sixth invitational championship of the season.

BW was led by Miller as he fired a round of 74 to finish tied for second place. Junior Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) and freshman Roni Shin (Rocky River), who is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week, each carded a round of 76.  Junior Ben Ladaika (Erie, Pa./Erie Cathedral Prep) posted a round of 78. Rounding out the top five was sophomore Jared Budner (Macedonia/Nordonia) as he tallied a round of 80.

Playing as individuals were seniors Brad Blaine (Brooklyn), Jack Kyle (Bay Village/Bay) and Adam Morris (Grafton/Midview), sophomore Alan Torres (Cleveland/Berea-Midpark) and freshmen Dylan Boff (Broadview Heights/North Royalton), Logan Bratsch (Olmsted Falls) and Steve Newbould (Parma/Valley Forge). 

Blaine, Bratsch and Kyle led the individuals as the trio shot an 83.  Newbould posted an 84.  Boff tallied a 91.  Morris had a 93.  Torres finished with an 100.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 27-26 when they travel to Hudson to compete in the OAC Spring Championship hosted by John Carroll University at the Country Club of Hudson.

The OAC Championships will be contested on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 3-5 at the River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.
