BW Senior Andrew Bene Named OAC Player of the Week for the Third Time This Winter

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University 6'6" senior center Andrew Bene (Hinckley/ Medina Highland) has been named as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season.  Bene earned his latest honor for his efforts in games last week against John Carroll University and Marietta College.

 
For the week, Bene scored 50 points, grabbed 22 rebounds and blocked three shots without committing a turnover in 59 minutes of playing time. He made 22-of-36 shots from the field for 61.1 percent and six-of-eight foul shots for 75%.
 
Bene had team-highs of 19 points and seven rebounds against JCU. He scored a game and career-high 31 points, became the 36th player in BW men's basketball history to score 1,000 career points and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds as the Yellow Jackets defeated Marietta College, 76-64, on Saturday. Bene's 31-point and 15-rebound effort against Marietta was his 12th double figure scoring and rebouding game of the season. He scored his 1,000th career point on two foul shots with 12:37 left and BW leading 52-38.
 
For the season, Bene led the Yellow Jackets in scoring at 18.0 points-per-game, led the OAC in rebounding at 9.8 rpg., shot a team-best 54.6 percent from the floor (178-of-326) and 63.3% from the foul line (93-of-147) with 24 assists, 28 blocked shots and 18 steals.
 
Bene ended his career 35th all-time in scoring with 1,009 career points and 10th all-time in rebounding with 606 career caroms.
