No. 3 Baseball Drops Top-10 Battle Against No. 6 Denison

ADRIAN, Mich. - The No. 3 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell to No. 6 nationally ranked Denison University by a score of 7-1 in a battle of two Top-10 teams and a neutral site non-conference game at Nicolay Field.

BW (10-3) was able to hold Denison (10-2) to only two runs in the first three innings despite five hits, but a four-run fifth powered the Big Red to victory.

Scoring Plays

  • Top 9th - Junior left fielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton) drove in BW's only run with a double to left

At the Plate

  • Marousek went 3-for-5 with two singles, a double, and an RBI 
  • Sophomore center fielder Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) recorded a career-high two hits and scored one run
  • Senior catcher Mark Mohnickey Jr. (North Ridgeville/St. Edward) and sophomore left fielder Reid Fleming (Pickerington/North) collected the Yellow Jackets' last two hits 

On the Mound

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference right-hander Garrett Miller (McMurray, Pa.) threw 4.1 innings with a team-high four strikeouts allowing five runs on six hits 
  • Senior right-hander Aidan Bennett (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) surrendered two runs on three hits through two and two thirds innings pitched and tallied two strikeouts
  • Sophomore left-hander Nolan Kellicker (Dover) made his season debut and collected his first collegiate strikeout as he pitched a perfect eighth inning
