Two Yellow Jackets Named to American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 7 Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Baldwin Wallace University baseball's junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference outfielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton) and sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference right-hander Tyler Walker (Fairlawn/Copley) have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 7 Team.

Marousek and Walker each earn second-team honors and are two of fourteen Ohio Athletic Conference players named to the All-Region team. BW along with Heidelberg University, Marietta College, Ohio Northern University, and Otterbein University placed two players on the team while the University of Mount Union led the way with three All-Region selections. John Carroll University added one player to round out the OAC selections.

Marousek makes the All-Region team for the first time in his career after appearing in all 46 games where he hit a team-leading .351 with 66 hits and 35 RBI from the leadoff spot. He also tallied nine doubles, two triples, and a homer on his way to a .436 on-base percentage and a .436 slugging percentage. Marousek also led the team and was third in the OAC in stolen bases with 23. He was also selected to the OAC All-Tournament Team where he tallied five hits, three RBI, a double, and a stolen base to help the Brown and Gold secure the OAC Tournament Championship.

In his career, Marousek has appeared in 70 games and has collected 81 hits and 48 RBI. He has a lifetime batting average of .325, an on-base percentage of .416 and has tallied 10 doubles, two triples, and a home run for a slugging percentage of .394. Marousek has also swiped 27 bags in his career.

Walker, who was named the 2024 Kent Tekulve OAC Pitcher of the Year, also earns his first All-Region selection. This season, he made 15 appearances and 12 starts where he pitched 70.2 innings including his first career complete game against Capital earlier this season. Walker led the OAC with a 9-1 record and also recorded two saves. He allowed 29 runs on 64 hits and 19 walks all while striking out 57 batters. Walker recorded an earned run average of 3.31 and limited opponents to a .238 batting average. He was also the only Yellow Jacket selected to the D3baseball.com All-Region 7 team.

In his career, Walker has made 26 appearances and 16 starts and has a career record of 10-2 with three saves. He has struck out 79 batters through 97.2 innings where he has allowed only 49 runs on 90 hits and 33 walks. Walker has a lifetime ERA of 4.05 and has held opponents to a .239 batting average in his career.

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2024 campaign with a record of 36-10 and a 15-3 record in conference play where they claimed both the OAC Regular Season and OAC Tournament titles. BW earned its way into the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history and for the third consecutive year.
