Women's Track and Field Athletes Compete at Last Chance Meets

BEREA, Ohio – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team competed at the Great Lakes Elite meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University and the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College. Both meets are considered last chance meets for the BW individuals to improve upon or hit the qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III National Championships.

At the Great Lakes Elite meet, freshman All-OAC thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) improved her mark in the shot put with a career-best toss of 42' 3''.  In the discus senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) placed fourth with a toss of 141' and freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished 10th with a mark of 122' 5''. Clouse recorded a season-best throw of 145' 11'' earlier this year which is currently 22nd in the nation. Junior thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) finished ninth in the hammer throw with a throw of 149' 3''.

At the Gregory Invitational, freshman All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) finished eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.78.  Brennan finished the 800-meter in a season-best and school record time of 2:12.02 at the Harrison Dillard Twilight which is currently ranked 22nd in the country. In the sprinting events, sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) finished 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.42 seconds and 13th in the 100-meter dash with a finish of 13.11 seconds.

The Yellow Jackets that qualify will travel to Geneva for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union on Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27 at the Spire Institute.
