Women's Indoor Track and Field Team Finishes Fifth at OAC Championships

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team finished fifth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

The Yellow Jackets finished fifth of ten teams with 85 points.  The University of Mount Union won its sixth straight title with 161 points.

The top three individuals and the top three relay teams earn All-OAC honors.

BW had 4 athletes take All-OAC honors and was led by junior All-American jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) as she won the OAC title in the high jump and was fifth in the triple jump.  Kasper won the high jump with a leap of five feet and 3.25 inches and had career-best mark of 33'11.50" in the triple jump.

In addition, senior hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) earned All-OAC honors as she was the runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 8.56 seconds. Freshman All-OAC distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) placed second in the women's 5000-meter with a time of 18.34.11.  Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) was third in the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:20.73. Brennan also took fourth in the 1-mile run with a career-best time of 5:06.19.

In the field events, senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) took fifth place in the weight throw with a toss of 50' .75".  Also in the women's weight throw freshman Brooke Buckhannon (Collins / Western Reserve) took seventh place with a throw of 46' 11.75" Sophomore Rachel Tucker (Canton/McKinley) took sixth in the triple jump with a career-best mark of 33' 10.25".

In relay action, the 4x200-meter team of Armstrong, sophomore Grace Nemeth (Medina), freshman Beth Plas (LaGrange/Keystone) and freshman Annie Quisno (Port Clinton/Oak Harbor) took seventh in a time of 1:49.75. In the 4x400-meter  squad of Armstrong, freshmen distance runners Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon),  Brennan and Quisno took seventh place with a team-best time of 4:15.86.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, March 3-4 when it travels to Ada for the Polar Bear Last Chance Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center.  The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by North Central (Ill.) College will be contested on Friday and Saturday, March 10-11 on the Al B. Carius Track in Naperville.
