Women's Track and Field Places Fifth at OAC Championships

MUSKINGUM, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team finished fifth at the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Muskingum University on the Johnson Family Track.

BW finished fifth of 10 teams with 86 points. Ohio Northern University won with a score of 162 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula) and senior jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) as each won an OAC individual title. Armstrong won the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best finish of 15.11 seconds and Kasper won the high jump with a mark of 5 feet 5.25 inches. In addition, Armstrong bettered her previous career-best of 15.17 seconds, which she set yesterday in the prelims, and Kasper also earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump and tied her career-best mark of 35'7.75''.

In other field events, freshman thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and senior thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) earned All-OAC honors in the shot put event. Roberts placed second as she hit a career-best mark of 41' 6'' and Clouse finished third with a toss of 41' 5''. Behind Roberts and Clouse, junior thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) placed sixth with a mark of 38' 8.75 and freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished eighth with a toss of 37' 6.75''. In the hammer throw, Ziccardi placed fifth with a mark of 138' 1.25'' and senior thrower Natasha Thomas (Cleveland/Holy Name) finished eighth with a toss of 133' 9.75''.

In the running events freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) earned All-OAC honors in the 1,500-meter run with a career-best time of 4:39.24. Brennan also placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.95.

In relay action, 4x100-meter relay team of Armstrong, sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina), junior sprinter Rachel Tucker (Canton/McKinley) and freshman sprinter Beth Plas (LaGrange/Keystone) finished seventh with a time of 50.46 seconds. Armstrong, senior sprinter Jasmine Moore (Cleveland Heights), freshman distance runner Annie Quisno (Port Clinton/Oak Harbor) and Brennan teamed up for  seventh place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:11.00.

BW is back in action on Friday, May 12 when it hosts the Harrison Dillard Twilight inside George Finnie Stadium starting at 2 p.m.
