TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule with a first place finish at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) Early Bird Invitational inside Cook Stadium.
BW won the invitational with 186.5 points.
The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) as she won the discus and shot put events. She had a throw of 138 feet three inches in the discus and a career-best toss of 42'5.25'' in the shot put.
In addition to Clouse, senior All-OAC jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) and junior throwers Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) and Madison Phillips (Norwalk/St. Paul) each won field events for the Yellow Jackets. Kasper earned a first place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15'11.75'', Ziccardi won the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 147'3'' and Phillips won the javelin throw with a career-best toss of 101'8''. In the shot put event, BW took the top-three spots as Clouse won the event, freshman thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) placed second with a career-best throw of 38'7'' and freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished third with a career-best toss of 38'5.5''. Buckhannon also finished third in the discus throw with a career-best mark of 120'4''.
In the running events, senior All-OAC hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva), senior All-OAC sprinter Jasmine Moore (Cleveland Heights) and freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) each won their respective events. Armstrong won the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 15.44 seconds, Moore finished first in the 400-meter dash with a career-best finish of 1:03.46 and Brennan won the 5,000-meter run with a career-best and Cook Stadium record time of 17:26.83. Along with Brennan in the 5,000-meter run freshman distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View) placed third with a career-best finish of 18:23.60. Sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) earned two second place finishes as she recorded career-best times of 12.80 seconds in the 100-meter and 26.56 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Freshman distance runner Annie Quisno (Port Clinton/Oak Harbor) placed third in the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 2:28.35.
In relay action, the team of Armstrong, Quisno, freshman distance runner Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon) and Brennan won the 4x400-meter relay with a season-best time of 4:15.10.
BW is back in action on Saturday, March 25 when it travels to Townson, Maryland for the Goucher (Md.) College Track & Field Classic inside Gopher Stadium.
