Brennan Sets School Record in Harrison Dillard Twilight

BEREA, Ohio – Freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron Walsh Jesuit) set a Baldwin Wallace University school record in the 800-meter run to highlight the select women's track and field performances in the Harrison Dillard Twilight last chance meet inside George Finnie Stadium. 

Brennan set a BW record and won the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 2:12.02. The school record time is currently the 15th fastest time in the country. In addition to breaking the school record, Brennan also placed second in the 1,500-meter run with a time 4:56.81.

In addition to Brennan having a strong performance, the 5,000-meter run and 10,000-meter top performers recorded some of the fastest times in the country and unattached high jumper Liz Evans also competed in the meet and hit one of the best times in the country.

In the other running events for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a finish of 26.44 seconds and finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.67 seconds.

In the field events, senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) finished second in the discus throw with a season-best mark of 145' 11'', which is the 18th throw in the nation. Freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished in fifth behind Clouse in the discus with a mark of 131' 10''. Freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) placed sixth in the hammer throw as she hit a career-best mark of 143'. Behind Buckhannon, in the hammer event, junior thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) finished eighth in the with a mark of 135' 3'', senior thrower Natasha Thomas (Cleveland/Holy Name) earned a 10th place finish with a throw of 126' 10'' and junior thrower Madison Phillips (Norwalk/St. Paul) finished 11th with a mark of 125' 9''. Phillips also placed third in the javelin throw with a mark of 104' 11''. In the shot put event, Clouse placed third with a mark of 41' 6.5'' and freshman All-OAC thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished fourth with a throw of 40' 9''. In the high jump event, senior All-OAC jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) finished ninth with a mark of 5' 2.5''.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, May 17 when it travels to Naperville, Illinois for the two-day Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
