Five Women's Track and Field Athletes Earn Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Five Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field student-athletes were named to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. 

In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and maintain varsity status.

Senior All-OAC sprinter Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula), senior All-OAC jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele), sophomore sprinter Jessica Edwards (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny), sophomore jumper Abby Weagraff (Cuyahoga Falls) and freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) each earned Academic All-OAC honors. 

Armstrong, who garners her third Academic All-OAC accolade, is a biology major that carries a 3.65 grade point average (GPA). She is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda honor society, Chi Sigma Alpha honor society and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). This year, Armstrong won the 100-meter hurdles at the OAC Outdoor Championships with a career-best time of 15.11 seconds. 

Kasper, who earns her second Academic All-OAC honor, is an exercise science major that carries a 4.00 GPA. She is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda, Dayton C. Miller and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies. This season, she cleared a career-best mark of 5' 7'' in the high jump at the Goucher (Md.) Meet on March 25. 

Edwards, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is an exercise science and pre-physical therapy double major that carries a 3.83 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda honor society, Chi Sigma Alpha honor society and BW Honors Program. This year, Edwards earned a career-best mark of 14' 9.25'' in the long jump at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational. 

Weagraff, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a biology major that carries a 3.95 GPA. She is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda honor society, Chi Sigma Alpha honor society, BW Honors Program and the Pre-Medical Society. Weagraff cleared a season-best mark of 10' 0.5'' in the pole vault at the Mount Union John Homon Open.

Brennan, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting and finance double major that carries a 3.98 GPA. She is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies. This season, Brennan earned All-OAC honors in outdoors the 3,000-meter and 1,500-meter runs and set a school record in the 800-meter run at the Harrison Dillard Twilight with a career-best time of 2:12.02.
