Women's Indoor Track and Field Finishes Third in the Greater Cleveland Championships

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field teams finished third at the Greater Cleveland Championships on the Harrison Dilliard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

With most of its athletes competing tomorrow BW finished finished third of five teams with 82 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-American jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) and sophomore vaulter Abby Weagraff (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville) as they each won their respective events. Kasper had a mark of 5 feet 5.75 inches and Weagraff  had a career-best tying leap of 9'6''.  

In addition, freshman sprinter Beth Plas (LaGrange/Keystone) finished fourth and senior sprinter Jasmine Moore (Cleveland Heights) finished eighth in the 55-meter dash. Plas had a career-best finish of 7.66 seconds and Moore had a career-best finish of 7.94 seconds. Plas and Moore also teamed up for third and sixth place finishes in 200-meter dash. Plas finished in a time of 27.96 seconds and Moore finished in a time of 28.26 seconds. Moore also placed sixth in the 400-meter with a career-best finish of 1:04.46. Senior sprinter and jumper Rachel Holowecky (Amherst/Firelands) finished second in the 55-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 9.38.  

In the 800-meter run freshman distance runner Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon) finished second, freshman distance runner Annie Quisno (Port Clinton/Oak Harbor) placed third and freshman distance runner Hannah Allenson (Lakewood) earned an eighth place finish. Fowler recorded a career-best time of 2:27.67, Quisno finished in a career-best time of 2:29.40 and Allenson crossed the line in a career-best time of 2:48.70. Allenson also finished seventh in the mile with a career-best finish 5:57.34.

In the field events, Holowecky also placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 4'9.9'' and junior jumper Rachel Tucker (Canton/McKinley) finished sixth in the long jump with a career-best mark of 14'9.56''.  Senior thrower Natasha Thomas (Cleveland/Holy Name) finished eighth in the weight throw and shot put. Thomas recorded a career-high tying mark of 32'1'' in the weight and had a toss of 34'11.68'' in the shot.

BW is back in action on Saturday, February 18 when it travels to Alliance for the Raider Tune Up hosted by the University of Mount Union in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex starting at 12 p.m.
