Women's Track and Field Team Participates at John Homon Open

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team competed at the unscored John Homon Open hosted by the University of Mount Union inside Mount Union Stadium.

BW was led by, senior All-OAC jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele), freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) and as they each earned top five finishes. Kasper placed second in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 4.75 inches. Brennan finished second in the 1,500-meter run with a career-best time of 4 minutes 44.16 seconds. Clouse placed fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 136'11.25''.

In addition to Clouse in the discus, freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished sixth with a toss of 131'10.25''. In the shot put event, Clouse placed seventh with a throw of 39'9.5'', Buckhannon finished 10th with a mark of 36'10.5'' and junior thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) placed 15th with a throw of 35'10.5''.  Ziccardi also placed sixth in the hammer throw with a mark 148'9.75''. Kasper also teamed up with junior sprinter and jumper Rachel Tucker (Canton/McKinley) for top 15 finishes in the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, Kasper finished 11th in the long jump with a leap of 16'3.5'' and Tucker placed 15th with a mark of 15'3''. In the triple jump Tucker finished eighth with a leap of 32'8'' and Kasper placed 11th with a mark of 32'1.75''. Sophomore pole vaulter Abby Weagraff (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville) finished eighth in the pol vault event as she hit a season-best mark of 10'0.25''.

In other running events, senior sprinter Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 15.48 seconds. Sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) finished 14th in the 100-meter dash with a finish of 12.91 seconds.

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of Armstrong, sophomore Grace Nemeth (Medina), junior sprinter Rachel Tucker (Canton/McKinley) and freshman sprinter Beth Plas (LaGrange/Keystone) finished sixth with a season-best time of 51.77 seconds. Senior sprinter Jasmine Moore (Cleveland Heights), freshman distance runner Annie Quisno (Port Clinton/Oak Harbor), freshman distance runner Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon) and Brennan teamed up for a 12th place finish in the 4x400-meter run with a season-best finish of 4:22.55.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 15 when they travel to Delaware for the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track
