Women's Indoor Track and Field Set to Start 2017 Campaign

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team and second-year Coordinator of Cross Country and Head Track and Field Coach Matthew Cole seek continued success in the 2017 indoor season.

, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Great Lakes Region and Division III National Women's Coach of the Year, returns 12 letterwinners from last years team that won 2016 NCAA Division Indoor National Championship and finished fifth at the OAC Championships. Cole and his coaching staff welcome 13 newcomers that will look to contribute immediately.  

"The 2016 season is in the past and our student-athletes are ready to take on the OAC and return to the national level. Our team goal is to win the OAC indoor title," said Cole.  "We have a great group of senior leadership that we will count on to anchor our large group of newcomers."

Highlighting the returners are senior All-American high jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) and senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve). Kasper tied for sixth at the national meet in the high jump and earned her first career All-OAC honor in the same event with a third-place finish at the OAC Championships a year ago. Clouse earned All-OAC honors with a third-place finish in the weight throw last season.

BW begins the indoor season on Saturday, January 21 when it travels to Ada for the OAC North Split hosted by Ohio Northern University inside the ONU Sports Center. Field events begin at 11 a.m. and running events start at 12 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets first home meet is the Dr. William Taraschke Classic on January 27 on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center at 4 p.m. BW also hosts the Mid-February Meet on February 10, the Greater Cleveland Championships on February 17 and the OAC Indoor Championships on February 24 and 25.
