Women's Outdoor Track and Field Team Places Second at Goucher (Md.) Classic

TOWNSON, Md. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished second at the Goucher (Md.) College Track & Field Classis inside Gopher Stadium.

BW second of 10 teams with 167 points. Stevenson (Md.) University won with a team score of 171 points. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) and freshman distance runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View). Clouse won the discus with a mark of 131 feet 5 inches and finished second in the shot put with a toss of 40'9.5''. Pendola won the 800-meter run with career-best time of 2:26.49 and placed second in the 1,500-meter run with a career-best finish of 5:02.68.

In the other field events, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) won the high jump with a leap of 5'7''. Sophomore vaulter Abby Weagraff (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville) won the pole vault with a mark of 9'5.75''. In the hammer throw junior thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) placed first with a career-best throw of 150 feet seven inches and freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve)  finished third with a career-best throw of 140'5''. In addition to Clouse in the discus Buckhannon placed second with a career-best mark of 128'03'' and freshman thrower Jillian Roberts (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished third with a career-best throw of 119'9''. Junior jumper Rachel Tucker (Canton/McKinley) also earned a second place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 34'2.75''.

In the running events freshman distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) won the 1,500-meter run with a career-best time of 4:49.06. Senior hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.75 seconds. Along with Pendola in the 800-meter freshman Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon) finished third with a career-best time of 2:30.30.  

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 1 when it travels to Danville, Kentucky for the Centre (Ky.) College Invitational inside Farris Stadium.
